No protests for Bangladeshi Hindus a matter of concern: Kangana Ranaut

BJP MP Kangana Ranaut expressed concern over the plight of minority communities, including Hindus in Bangladesh. She called the condition of Sadhus and saints in Bangladesh “very unfortunate.”
“The condition of Sadhus and saints in Bangladesh is a matter of concern for us,” said Ranaut.
Kangana Ranaut criticised the lack of protests in India against the alleged atrocities.
“There are no protests against atrocities faced by Hindus in Bangladesh here, there is no campaign on social media like all eyes on Bangladesh,” she said.
Ranaut said that since Muhammad Yunus came to power in Bangladesh, there has been total unrest in the country.
She reaffirmed support for Hindus in Bangladesh and expressed hope for their safety. “May God protect them,” Ranuaut said.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday criticised Bangladesh for the rising targeted attacks on Hindus, asserting that the increasing violence against minorities cannot be dismissed as “media exaggerations.” During a press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal urged the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government to fulfil its responsibility of ensuring the protection of all minority communities.
Bangladesh witnessed fresh violence this week following the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari at Dhaka airport on Monday. The monk faced sedition charges for allegedly disrespecting the national flag during a rally in October. After his bail was denied, his detention sparked widespread protests in Dhaka and Chittagong, where supporters clashed with security forces.
The minority Hindu community, which makes up about 8 per cent of Bangladesh’s 170 million population, has endured over 200 attacks since the fall of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government on August 5.
Amid the protests, a Muslim lawyer was killed outside a Chittagong court. Six suspects identified through CCTV footage have been arrested in connection with the murder. Authorities have also detained at least 30 individuals, including members of the Awami League, on charges of vandalism and assaulting police officers.
In response to the unrest, the Bangladesh government filed a writ petition on Wednesday, seeking a ban on Iskcon, labelling it a “religious fundamentalist organisation.”
Incidents of violence targeting the Hindu community have escalated in recent months. Last month, a crude bomb was thrown at a Durga Puja mandap (booth) in Dhaka’s Tantibazar area. A crown of Goddess Kali, gifted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021, was stolen from the Jeshoreshwari temple. Such attacks have intensified since the fall of the Awami League government.
